Cancellation & Refund Policy

Last updated: August 9, 2026

Cancel any time

You can cancel any Muze Writer subscription at any time, in two clicks from your account settings. There is no cancellation fee, no notice period, and nobody to talk to first.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your plan keeps working to the end of the period you have already paid for — the rest of the month on a monthly plan, the rest of the year on an annual one — and then your account reverts to the free Reader tier.

Decide before you pay

Paid plans start with a 5-day free trial. A card is required and nothing is charged on the day you subscribe. Cancel before the trial ends and you are never charged at all, which is the point of it: the decision comes before the money, not after.

Refunds

We do not issue routine refunds for a period already begun. If you cancel mid-month or mid-year, you keep the access you paid for until it runs out rather than receiving money back for the remainder.

Billing errors are always refunded, however long ago they happened: a duplicate charge, a charge after a successful cancellation, a charge on a plan you never subscribed to. Write to hello@muzewriter.com and reference the charge. We process those within 3 business days; funds typically arrive 5–10 business days later, depending on your card issuer and country.

Anything outside those two categories, write to us anyway. We read every message and we would rather hear about a problem than lose you quietly.

One-time credit packs

Credit packs are a completed purchase: the credits land on your account immediately, never expire, and remain spendable even after a subscription ends. Because they are delivered in full at the moment of sale, they are not refundable except for the billing errors described above.

What stays with you

Your manuscripts and every word you have written belong to you, whether you pay or not. Markdown, HTML and text export are always free from the Reader plan, before, during, and after a subscription. Word, PDF and EPUB export are part of the paid plans.

After cancellation your projects stay readable and exportable. You only lose access to AI generation beyond the Reader allowance.

Purchases made before August 9, 2026

Until August 9, 2026 every paid plan was advertised with a 14-day money-back guarantee. That guarantee was a term of every sale made while it was published, and it still applies to those purchases. If you bought on or before that date and you are inside your fourteen days, write to hello@muzewriter.com and we will refund you in full, no questions asked.

EU and UK consumer rights

Nothing on this page overrides statutory consumer rights. EU and UK consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal under Directive 2011/83/EU and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 respectively.

Because Muze Writer is digital content that starts working the moment you subscribe, checkout asks you to request immediate access and, in doing so, to waive that statutory withdrawal right (Section 6 of the Terms). That waiver is what the exemption for immediately-delivered digital content allows, and it is why this page no longer offers a fourteen-day window of its own. If you did not give that consent, or you believe it was not validly obtained, your statutory right stands and we will honour it: write to hello@muzewriter.com.

If we are ever slow or unclear about a charge, your local consumer protection authority is the appropriate escalation. We would rather you reach out to us first so we can fix whatever went wrong.

Questions

Any question about a charge, a cancellation, or this policy: hello@muzewriter.com. A real human reads every message.
