Changelog

What's new.

Every change to Muze Writer, newest first. Features and fixes both — a changelog that only announces good news stops being worth reading.

Credits you were charged for work you never got

A run of fixes to the places where the app took something from you — credits, or the shape of your manuscript — and gave nothing back.

  • Fixed

Failed AI generations now refund your credits

Outline and character generation charged the moment the model answered. If the response then came back unusable, or the save failed, the credits were gone and you had nothing to show for it. Every one of those paths now returns them, and the refund appears in your credit history.

  • Fixed

Generating an outline can no longer add empty chapters to a book you have already written

If your manuscript was started before the Outline existed, “Generate” could append a couple of dozen blank chapters to the end of it, and you had to delete them one at a time. It now tells you to use Extract instead, which builds the outline from the chapters you actually wrote.

  • Fixed

Two tabs can no longer generate two outlines

The second one now stops and gives your credits back rather than duplicating the first.

  • Fixed

    Chapter order stays put

Reordering chapters or scenes could leave two of them claiming the same position, so the order looked different each time the page loaded.

  • New

Export settings are remembered per manuscript

Typeface, layout and page size stay as you left them, so a book you are proofing at 6×9 in Lora opens that way every time.

Exports that look like books, and reminders that show your streak

  • New

Export a PDF at 6×9in, the trade-paperback size

The size print-on-demand services default to, so the file reads as a finished book rather than a printout of one. In the library's Export menu, or under More options with the rest of the settings.

  • New

Full export settings from the library

“More options” opens the same window as the editor, so typeface, layout, page size and the free formats are all reachable without opening a manuscript first.

  • New

Your writing reminder now carries your streak

The current streak and the last seven days, so the nudge shows what is actually at stake.

  • New

Bring Your Own Model keys can be added in Settings

Connect an Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or DeepSeek key and your own key is billed instead of your credits.

  • New

    Portuguese

Muze Writer now speaks English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese.

  • Improved

    German reads like German

128 strings rewritten by a native speaker: terminology made consistent and the typography fixed.

  • Improved

A missing translation now falls back to English

Instead of showing the raw name of the missing text, which is what a few screens used to do.

  • Improved

The phone navigation survives moving between screens

It used to disappear when you left the editor for the Outline.

  • Fixed

The filter bar no longer cuts off its last filter on a phone

Most visible in German, where “Fertig” was clipped with nothing to indicate it was there.

  • Improved

Outline drag-and-drop reflows as you drag

Cards move out of the way while you are still holding one, instead of jumping when you let go.

Focus mode, and deleting a manuscript from the shelf

  • New

Delete a manuscript from the library

    Without archiving it first.

  • Improved

Focus mode has one clear way out, and tells you when your work is saved

The autosave status is real now rather than decorative.

  • Improved

Very long continuations are a paid feature

The longest generations are available on the Writer and Studio plans.

A resizable Muse, and a tidier editor

  • New

The floating Muse panel can be resized

Drag either edge to give the conversation as much room as you want.

  • Improved

    Editor chrome tidied throughout

Consistent icons across the toolbar and the command palette, rounded tabs, and a trimmed set of controls in the Muse composer.
