- What does an AI action cost in credits?
- Text actions depend on how much of your manuscript the AI reads, so they vary: a Continue or a Muse reply is roughly 70–130 credits on the premium models and 10–20 on the faster ones, and a rephrase is under 20. Images and video are fixed: an AI image is 2,500 credits, and AI video is 3,500 credits per second at 480p or 5,000 at 720p, so an 8-second HD clip is 40,000. Writer's 250,000 monthly credits cover well over a thousand text actions; the free Reader tier's 2,500 weekly credits cover roughly 20–35.
- What is the Muse Unfiltered Model?
- A per-manuscript choice on the paid plans that lets the Muse write adult fiction without softening anything: violence, cruelty, abuse, addiction, despair, sex. The Muse Standard Model, the default, declines that material or quietly sanitises it; the Muse Unfiltered Model permits it, and any manuscript you switch over is routed there. You must be 18 or over and confirm it once. It applies to the whole manuscript — both the Muse and Continue — and every character in a sexual context is always written as an adult.
- What is the Founding offer?
- Founding Writer is an introductory plan limited to the first 300 customers. Same features as Writer Annual but $49/year forever, locked at that price for life as long as the subscription stays active. See the Founding page for the live counter and full pitch.
- How does the free trial work?
- Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. You pick a tier and enter a card, but nothing is charged today: you get full Writer access immediately and can cancel any time before day 7 to avoid the charge. If you cancel, your account drops to a limited free tier: your manuscripts stay yours, with a small weekly Muse-credit allowance and Markdown, HTML and text export.
- Is there a money-back guarantee?
- Yes. Every paid plan ships with a 14-day money-back guarantee. If Muze Writer isn't right for you, reply to your receipt within 14 days of purchase and we'll refund you in full, no questions asked. Your manuscripts stay yours either way, and Markdown, HTML and text export stay free on the Reader plan.
- What's a Muse credit?
- Muse credits are consumed when the AI muse generates a suggestion, rewrites a passage, or analyses your scene against your Core. Roughly one credit per 750 characters of input + output. Most writers using the Muse for line edits and ideation stay well inside the Writer plan's 250,000 credits per month.
- What is Bring Your Own Model?
- If you have an OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google API key you can route Muse requests through your own key. Available on the paid plans. Pay the provider directly for inference, no Muze credits consumed.
- Can I switch plans or cancel?
- Anytime. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. Cancelling keeps your manuscripts intact: your account drops to the limited free tier, where your work stays viewable and exportable as Markdown, HTML or text.
- Do you offer annual billing?
- Yes. Annual Writer is $89/year (~$7.42/mo effective). Founding Writer is $49/year, locked at that price for life, limited to 300 customers.
- Is Muze Writer a Scrivener or Sudowrite alternative?
- Muze Writer covers the long-form drafting and project organisation that Scrivener is known for, with an AI muse that has full project context — your premise, characters, voice, and outline — so suggestions match the book you're writing, not a generic AI tone. At $49/year on the Founding plan, it's also ~81% cheaper than Sudowrite Pro Annual.
- Where is my manuscript stored?
- Manuscripts are stored encrypted at rest in our managed Postgres database in the EU. Export is available at any time: Markdown, HTML and text on every plan including Reader, plus Word, PDF and EPUB on the paid plans.
